Description:
A founder member of the Canberra Youth Orchestra, Gisèle first found herself in front of a mic as backing Vocalist for Peter Garrett's ANU college band Devil's Breakfast. At University of Sydney she studied languages and was 1st Violin with the Music Department Orchestra. Graduating with honours, Gisèle took up a teaching scholarship in Paris for a year then moved to London. Translator/interpreter by day, she moonlighted as Vocalist/Violinist/Writer/Arranger with post-punk band The Recruits, soul record producer Ches Haynes, Vega (Their single 'Mother Egypt' was a European No.1), Eurogliders, Midnight Oil and Thomas Dolby. Also working as a TV scriptwriter and actor Gisèle became a broadcaster with the BBC World Service. Returning to Australia she presented programs for ABC Radio National and Classic FM until the birth of her son. She currently produces and hosts monthly In-Flight music programs; Concert Hall for Qantas, and Encore for Royal Brunei Airlines and Air Vanuatu. Gisèle toured for Musica Viva in schools with the vocal quartet Blindman's Holiday. She continues to work as a freelance Composer/Violinist/Vocalist, her most recent credits being for Piaf sensation Jeannie Lewis' latest release 'Southeart'. Gisèle is also the violinist with the Argentinian/Uruguayan tango band Tango del Angel.Drawing on this diversity of experience, but being essentially a composer/performer of contemporary music with a groove, Gisele has recorded her own CD of dance/trance music, with world influences, including some French, Italian & German vocals. It features soaring electric violin and vocals with beats, over lush keyboard soundscapes. Gisèle Scales '2 Think' CD is an inspirational journey; a motivational celebration of Life Language and Love magic on the dance floor!
