Description:
Andy Stitzer (Steve Carrell) lives a comfortable life in his nice apartment, with his impressive set of action figures and toys. He has a cushy job at an electrical goods store and seems as content as any 40 year old man could be – no stress, no fuss. That is, until he inadvertently lets slip to his co-workers and poker buddies that he is still the owner of the one thing that (nearly) all men want to lose. Andy still has his virginity. Gobsmacked that a 40 year old man could still be immaculate and pure, Andy’s bovine but well intentioned buddies set out to make sure that his cherry be lost as matter of urgency. Suddenly, what was a non issue for Andy becomes the focus of his life with his pals coaching him in the finer points of attracting the opposite sex. The first step is to get Andy’s generous chest pelt waxed, a hilarious scene that will bring tears to the eyes of men and women alike (Steve Carrell insisted that he really have his chest hair waxed for the scene). Now, partially defoliated and instilled with the……ahem…. wisdom of his friends, every woman becomes a potential target to relieve his pent up frustration and get the (regularly spanked) monkey off his back. Andy’s mates are overjoyed when he meets Trish, a beautiful mother of three. But their hopes are dashed when it’s revealed that their relationship is based on a mutually agreed no-sex policy. As their relationship develops, Andy and Trish begin to fall for each other, but the lack of sex and the resulting pressure from his obsessed friends forces Andy to look elsewhere despite their obvious and deep emotional connection. 40 Year Old Virgin is the most bladder burstingly funny DVD release of 2006. Starring the newest comedy sensation, Steve Carrell (Bruce Almighty, Anchorman), the XXL DVD version of the film contains 17 minutes of extra footage and is loaded with special features including behind the scenes gags and the hilarious “You know how I know you’re gay” routine.
