Thrice's Island Records debut, The Artist In The Ambulance, was produced by Brian McTernan (Snapcase, Converge) at Salad Days studios in Washington DC. With other top talent such as engineer Michael Barbiero (Metallica) and Andy Wallace (Nirvana) solidifying the final mix, the album promises a sonic quality second to none. Thrice approaches music in a way that challenges the listener to keep thinking and learning just so they can keep up. The songs from their first 2 releases, Identity Crisis and The Illusion of Safety, encapsulate the live feel and offer a chance to read along with their poignant lyrics that drip with literary allusion and introspection.
The Artist In The Ambulance debuted at #16 on the U.S. album chart. Thrice has already toured extensively across the United States with Hot Water Music, Anti-Flag, Further Seems Forever and Face to Face, Thrice promises more of the same in 2003. There will be a U.S. tour with The Used, followed by the group's first trek to Europe on the Deconstruction Tour (NOFX, The Bouncing Souls). After that, it's a slot on the main stage on the Warped Tour (AFI, Taking Back Sunday). The Artist In The Ambulance has received great reviews from the UK press - 4/5 in Kerrang and 8/10 in NME.
