Since their emergence in the mid-90s, the cult of obsessive fans for Tasmanian-formed, Melbourne-based The Paradise Motel has grown to be one of the most distinctive and haunting bands of their generation.Their previous albums, 'Left Over Life To Kill' ('96), 'Still Life' ('97) and 'Flight Paths' ('98) were critically acclaimed indie best sellers. With a reputation for stunning live shows the band developed a devoted national following, touring with the likes of THE CRUEL SEA, DIRTY THREE, SPAIN and THE BLACKEYED SUSANS and playing festivals including BIG DAY OUT and MEREDITH.In '98 they signed to INFECTIOUS RECORDS and relocated to London where they toured UK, Europe and USA with the likes of GRANDADDY, SPARKLEHORSE, DRUGSTORE and MERCURY REV, until the band went on hiatus in 2000 with members split across the globe. Until nowIn March 2010, The Paradise Motel was invited to perform a half hour live to air for Melbourne's 3RRR radio their first performance together in over 10 years performing five new songs from 'Australian Ghost Story'. There followed a sold out show at Melbourne's Toff in Town, and an April residency at the Northcote Social Club.The album sees the band expanded to a seven piece and is a narrative based around the disappearance of AZARIA CHAMBERLAIN (it's the 30th anniversary this year). Paradise Motel songs have often focused on murder stories or missing girls and here the band creates a mature work to match the poignancy of their trademark eerie melancholy.
