EQ look back to Australian talent for the 4th release in the Balance series after the internationally successful release by American DJ Bill Hamel, whose CD has opened doors for local DJ's to showcase their talent on the global stage.

Balance 004 is set to be the biggest yet for the EQ label, with renowned Melbourne DJ/Producer Phil K (Dark Alley / Hi-Fi Bugs) whose DJ style is cutting edge, and always setting the standard.

Balance 004 an outstanding mix of breaks, tribal, and twisted tech-house all mixed into one dance-floor erupting journey. It showcases the finest local and international artists, and labels, featuring tracks and remixes from Terry Francis, Mazi, Spoon Wizard, Interloper, Luke Chable, NuBreed, and more. However the highlight would have to be the amazing exclusive unreleased breaks monster Babe, 'I'm Gonna Leave You' by PQM.

Phil K's previous foray into the compilation market earned him a Australian Dance Music Awards 2000 'Best Compilation' award for his Sound Not Scene release.

Phil K's DJ career began in 1985, saw him supporting the likes of John Digweed, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, Freq-Nasty, Darren Emerson, Fatboy Slim, Adam Freeland, DJ Hell, just to name a few!

In the late 90's Phil formed a production partnership with Andy Page under the name of Hi-Fi Bugs. Together they produced and released their first single in late 1999 'Lydian & The Dinosaur', a progressive track with nu-school breaks that attracted UK attention. May 2000 saw Phil moving again in new directions and working with another act called NuBreed on remixes of 'I'm Afraid I Think I'm Human' for Melbourne's Sonic Animation, which was heavily supported by Danny Tenaglia.

Currently, Phil has started a new house project with long time collaborator Ivan Gough. This project is called Dark Alley and they have completed remixes of Love Tattoo - 'Drop Some Drums' (Positiva), GT -'Love Song' (EMI), and Paul Mac - 'The Sound of Breaking Up' (EMI), which has been nominated in the 'Best Remix' category for the Australian Dance Music Awards 2002.

On a breaks tip another new project called Lo-Step with another young talented programmer called Luke Chable, their first production entitled 'Roots' has been signed to Global Underground's sub-label Quad Communications, and included on Dave Seaman's Global Underground - Melbourne CD.

The next twelve months will ensure Phil's reputation as both a DJ and quality producer is recognised globally.
