Description:
'Black Gives Way To Blue' is the new album from Alice In Chains. It's been 14 years since one of the pioneers of the Grunge scene released their last CD, 'Alice In Chains', and during this time lead singer and founding member Layne Staley sadly died from a drug overdose in 2002.
The band reformed in 2005 for a benefit show for the tsunami disaster victims and, having worked with various vocalists since, they are now fronted by William DuVall. This album has been in the pipeline since 2007 and contains 11 new tracks produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Marilyn Manson, Rush). The band's sound hasn't deviated from their original roots and the lyrical content ranges from the effect that Layne's death had on the band (album's title track, which features Elton John, is about Layne) to Jerry Cantrell's move from Seattle to Los Angeles (Check My Brain which will be the second single).
Alice In Chains have been playing shows over the last year to reintroduce the band to their fans and to preview tracks from the new album. The reception to the new material has been fantastic and, even though it's been a long time between albums, this long awaited return of one of the Grunge scene's biggest bands is not going to disappoint fans.
