Often lumped in with smart-alecky Southern California pop-punk bands like Blink 182 and label mates NOFX, Lagwagon actually aspire to a somewhat artier and more serious brand of hardcore. In the grand tradition of I DON'T WANT TO GROW UP-era Descendents, the quintet takes a realistic, thoughtful and unapologetic look at aging, waning idealism, and the dangers of overindulgence, all with a touch of sly humor and worldliness that can only come with years of experience. Sonically, of course, Lagwagon travels the same road as the aforementioned bands, delivering one straightjacket-tight and perfectly paced mix of Ritalin-fueled drums, buzzing guitars, and Four Freshmen-worthy harmonies after another. Simply put, on BLAZE, Lagwagon is at the absolute top of it's game, and goes the extra mile by injecting a much-needed dose of substance into an often one-dimensional genre.
