The word ‘Icon’ does not seem to hold enough gravitas when looking for something to describe Tim Finn’s standing in the Australian music community.
Many artists with a catalogue as strong as his would be happy to rest on their laurels & just play endless ‘Greatest Hits’ shows, content with the contribution they have made. But then there are others who continue to chase the muse & who keep writing & recording, pushing the boundaries & striving for something new – Tim Finn is one of those artists.
With ‘The Conversation’ Tim has delivered his most intimate album to date. Recorded at Roundhead studios in Auckland & featuring just vocals, guitar, piano & violin, the record was conceived to be almost like chamber music, where the individual instruments come together to create something much greater than the sum of it’s parts.
Co-produced by Ethan Allen & former Split Enz member Eddie Rayner, the 13 songs that make up ‘The Conversation’ are fragile, yet self assured, with Tim’s distinctive vocals & lyrics being the primary focus.
