Description:
Well known as the godfather of grime and the Lord Byron of rap, Wiley has been an influence to major acts including Dizzee Rascal, and Tinie Tempah. And of course he had a massive worldwide chart hit in 2008 with "Wearing My Rolex", not to mention one of 2011's biggest tracks ("Numbers In Action"). After founding his own record label in 2004, Wiley has made a switchback move in his return to London-based Independent label Big Dada. ‘Evolve Or Be Extinct' is co-produced by the highly acclaimed producer and one half of AFRICA HITECH, MARK PRITCHARD (whom THE GUARDIAN has touted "one of dance's best kept secrets"). Wiley had already accrued much widespread attention from teaming up with North London producer NANA ROGUES (who lends his talents to THE NEPTUNES) on his bright and infectious recent single "Link Up". This new album is primed to be contentious and colourful, encompassing a vast spectrum of musical light and shade, which is veritable reflection of the enigmatic artist himself. As NME described it, "He's predictably unpredictable, an innovator who doesn't take himself too seriously. You may never know what you're going to get, but when his volatile genius throws up songs as brilliant as "Scar"... you'd be a fool to ignore him. 8/10" Watch "Boom Blast" here.
