Description:
Introduced to the illegal rave scene as a young teen, Andy C started his DJing and production career while still a school-boy in Essex. On leaving school at 16, he blew off a career in printing and created Ram Records, the seminal drum n bass label he still runs with close friends. Twelve years on Ram's back catalogue has bloomed under Andy's A&R vision; with releases from Andy in many guises collaborating with the likes of Ant Miles, Randall and Shimon. As one of the most respected DJs on the scene, Andy regularly travels the globe with his drum n bass message.
Andy C: "Ram's totally grown out of all recognition. From the way it started, sitting around the dinner table, wondering how I press records, to where it is now and what we've all done. The really cool thing is that it's all my mates that I've grown up with, they're all part of the label and we've done it together it doesn't feel like 12 years."
Few DJs or producers could claim to be as active and committed to their music as London's DJ Hype. Gaining experience as part of the Heatwave Soundsystem (part of Shut Up & Dance), he mixed reggae, hip hop and house with the 'all-inclusive' attitude he now applies to drum and bass. He's built soundsystems, A&R'd for Kickin' Records, worked with both indies and majors, and hosted radio shows on the seminal Fantasy FM and Kiss. Hype has pioneered drum and bass at home and abroad, fearlessly presenting all forms of the music to as many people as possible. His sets stand as testament to the range and diversity found in drum n bass.
DJ Hype: "DJing is vital to me. If you see people loving what you do, genuinely, then that's all you need to tell you you're doing the right thing. No-one pays those people to go wild. No-one says 'here y'are mate, there's twenty quid, go nuts when he plays his own track 'cos he's a bit insecure.'"
FABRICLIVE. 18 sees two of drum n bass' most exciting talents showcase their sounds together for the first time. Kicking off with DJ Hype; we journey through up-to-the-minute cuts, exclusive forthcoming tracks from his Ganja label and his special edits of Benny Blanco and JB. Andy C takes over for the final part showcasing his superb technical skills as he furiously mixes up tracks by J Majik, Moving Fusion, Ed Rush & Optical, DJ Fresh, and his own Ram Trilogy moniker.
