The Vines have sold more than two million albums worldwideand In 2002 they arrived along with The Strokes and the White Stripes as the undeniable architects of a global renaissance in rock music. Bursting onto the world scene in 2002 with their debut album Highly Evolved? which spawned the garage rock anthem Get Free? , The Vines impacted the album charts in Australia (5), the US (11) and the UK (3). The band took home an Aria Award inthe same year for Breakthrough Artist Single? for Get Free? and received a further 5 nominations. The band appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone in America, the cover of NME and performed on David Letterman and the MTV Music Awards. 9 years and 3 albums that followed the breakthrough Highly Evolved, The Vines return with their 5thalbum Future Primitive. A true return to their roots of 60 influenced garage rock! The Vines started introducing songs from the new record on the main stage of Splendour In The Grass 2010, during the Powderfinger farewell tour in late 2010 and on the main stage of the Australian Big Day Out this year. The album was produced by Chris Colonna (from the Bumblebeez) and mixed in Paris by Julien Delfaud (Phoenix) with spiritual guidance from Philippe Zdar at his Motorbass Studio. The album is a true return to form, packed with the sort of killer hooks and genius melodic songwriting that gained them worldwide notoriety in the first place. The Vines have been announced for Splendour In The Grass 2011 with an Australian tour to be announced on album release.
