Like fellow French geniuses Air, the Kid has gathered musical influences from the most unlikely sources and moulded them into his own distinctive sound. He also shares Air's love of slow, soothing beats and cinematic strings.
JESUS LIFE. gives twelve artists the full remix treatment. Some of the most unlikely candidates undergo the most successful transformations. The Pastels' defiantly shambolic noodlings are turned into a sophisticated soundscape on "Viaduct." Elsewhere, Tommy Hools' "Les Reprouves" is reborn as a twangy '60s spy movie theme, while Talvin Singh's "Traveller" (possibly the standout track) is a swirling, magical journey. Like Kid Loco's debut album A GRAND LOVE STORY, this is a tasty, chilled concoction. Serve directly from the fridge.
