Fiery, brash and irreverent, Welsh trio FUTURE OF THE LEFT tore up Australian stages in March 2008 off the back of their magnificent album "Curses". Never ones to shy away from a rematch, the band unleash their brand new live album and head back to Australia in January 2009. So what perfect timing for the release of this great live band's great live album, "Last Night I Saved Her From Vampires". Future of the Left's first release for 4AD was recorded at two recent live shows: the Cardiff Club Igor Bach on 13th August, and London's Water Rats on 20th August. It not only features tracks from feted debut album "Curses", but also four brand new ones: "Drink Nike", "Distant Jabs At A Soul", "V.D.F.A" and "Cloak The Dagger" (the latter two having been a regular fixture of the band's live set). It is neither good nor healthy to tease through the bones of the past, but for the edification of future generations, we must. Like one of Planet Earth's great mammals, the group that eventually became "Future Of The Left" were some time in the gestation. The band were composed from two thirds of the defunct Cardiff rock band Mclusky (singer / guitarist Andy Falkous and drummer Jack Egglestone), and one-fifth of Ammanford rock band Jarcrew (wild-eyed frontman Kelson Louis Matthias). In short, "Future Of The Left" can be found further trying to stretch and bend the boundaries of what a rock band should be. And with a second album release already on the way, this particular future promises much.
