Description:
On the Rollins Band first official studio recording, Henry Rollins runs the band through its paces like a psychopathic James Brown. The music is both tight and loose, being much less 'metal' sounding than late-era Black Flag or later incarnations of the Rollins Band, itself. This is not the punk rock stone-throwing of "Hot Animal Machine' nor the jazz-metal of "Weight' or even the pop-metal of 'End of Silence'. This is a band on a mission. A flame-throwing panzer division of sound. And the chip-on-their-shoulder, prove-it-to-the-world, all out blues fury they unleash is as unselfconscious as it is unrelenting. It is a record that should be mentioned in the same breath as other great rock debut records from Pearl Jam's 'Ten' and Guns n Roses 'Appetite for Destruction' to Black Flag's "Damaged" and the Cro-Mags' "Age of Quarrel".
