Description:
Air has long been a band with one foot stuck in the future and one foot stuck in the past. Able to spawn accessibly weird chunks of modern Electronica using a toolbox filled with the musical tools of the 70s, their new album, Love 2, is another in a long line of quality releases from the French duo. Love 2 combines the pop sensibilities of their debut release, Moon Safari, with the more experimental leanings of their 10,000 Hz Legend album.

Band leaders, Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel, struck by the success of their Pocket Symphony tour which featured only the duo along with drummer, Joey Waronker, decided to take this trio in to the studio to record Love 2. This is also the first time that Air has self-produced an album. The results are stunning, with Waronker's drumming providing a solid foundation that allows Godin and Dunckel's written melodies - both sung and played - to soar.

Stand out tracks on Love 2 include the opener, Do the Joy, with its fuzzy bass and fuzzy synths providing an otherworldly introduction to the album. Sing Sang Sung, on the other hand, is a typically gorgeous Air pop song that wouldn't sound out of place on Moon Safari or Talkie Walkie. Love 2 is another highly recommended album from these French masters of experimental pop.
