Description:
A group described by The Wire as "A kind of European down-home No Wave", the thirteen tracks on this album meander somewhere between post-rock, free-jazz improvisations and electronic dub sensibilities. There is a lot to take in here, the album uniting beats, jazz structures and forms, the use of sonic palettes and of bold and also brittle textures. Utilising an organic base similar to that of The Dirty Three and The Necks, the music builds around the notions of tension and release, incorporating ideas of distance and intimacy. Melodies are sometimes aggressive, sometimes non-existent, and at others completely submerged in washes of ebbing and flowing distortion.
