No.5 in UNCUT & ROUGH TRADE SHOP’s 100 best albums of the year! Now, MICAH P HINSON has known trouble! Raised in Abilene, Texas, he’s lived through teenage drug addiction, forays into crime, a stint in jail, bankruptcy & homelessness. Yet in spite of all this personal turmoil, he’d managed write two albums of sparse yet beautiful country songs with lush strings, beautiful keyboards & eerie backdrops harmonised perfectly with Micah’s honest & exposed vocal style, which has earned him critical acclaim and an international cult following.

Suffering chronic back pain, Micah had retreated back to Texas where he was beginning to contemplate a life after music. Yet upon receiving an expression of interest from producer / engineer JOHN CONGLETON (THE POLYPHONIC SPREE, EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, BLACK MOUNTAIN, ANTONY AND THE JOHNSONS), Micah’s fortunes were rekindled. In 2008, with confidence restored & a life back on track, Micah P. Hinson shows on "…And The Red Empire Orchestra" that he’s ready to take his art back to the masses & will overcome any obstacle set in his path.
Recorded in a studio converted from an old funeral home, "…And The Red Empire Orchestra" was pulled together with the help of a host of musicians, including members of The Polyphonic Spree, The Paper Chase & The Drams as well as veteran of the opera circuit, Nick Phelps.
