The Million Dollar Quartet came together for one special day on December the 4th 1956. The session happened by pure chance, Carl Perkins Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and a certain Elvis Presley were all at Sam Phillips Sun Studios for different reasons. The opportunity was too good to miss and the four musicians recorded some tracks together.
'Million Dollar Quartet' the musical - takes the story of that eventful day and turns it into two hours of amazing fun. The four main actors all play their own instruments and sing live, accompanied by a drummer and bass player. The show opened on Broadway in 2010 and at London's Noel Coward Theatre in February of this year. The show was an instant success and is currently taking bookings until October 2012. The album was recorded live at the Noel Coward Theatre so comes complete with dialogue and the all the energy and old a live audience can offer.
The show and album include some of the biggest songs from the Rock & Roll era including Blue Suede Shoes, Folsom Prison Blues, That's All Right, I Walk The Line and Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin On.
