Monsters of Folk is the first collaborative recording by Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), Jim James (My Morning Jacket), singer/songwriter M Ward (She & Him), and producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Jenny Lewis, Rilo Kelley). Although these critically acclaimed artists have shared the stage before, this album marks their first album output as a band, recorded in Malibu, CA and Omaha, NE. The album exudes a warm, organic spaciousness, filled by brilliant choruses, intoxicating harmonies and effortless melodies, as each member brings his own strengths to the table to create one perfect whole. This is sure to be one of Spunk’s biggest and most successful releases of 2009. Each of the band members have extensive and dedicated fan bases as solo performers and their coming together marks a momentous occasion in indie rock. This is big!!
