Nick Cave formed the Bad Seeds following the end of his previous band Birthday Party. The Bad Seeds brought together former Birthday Party guitarist Mick Harvey (drums), ex-Magazine bassist Barry Adamson, and Einstürzende Neubauten guitarist Blixa Bargeld.
EMI Catalogue are to release the next instalment in a series of releases that will ultimately see the band's entire catalogue of studio albums digi-tally re-mastered and remixed for 5.1 Surround Sound for the first time since their original release.
Each deluxe edition contains the re-mastered stereo album, the new surround mix, a specially commissioned short film by UK artists Iain For-syth and Jane Pollard plus the b-sides from the singles, videos and ex-clusive sleeve notes.
Murder Ballads features:
- Songs about death and violence including the opener Song of Joy about the murder of three children and their mother in a shocking fash-ion.
- The Bad Seeds cleverly alternate their sound between Blues, Country and Jazz
- Features duets with Kylie Minogue (Where the wild roses grow) and PJ Harvey (Henry Lee)
- Critics proclaim this album to be among the best of The Bad Seeds recordings.
