The band that gave Sunn0))) their name (and concept) get the full treatment from Sub Pop this month (LP's getting re issued also!) with the highly anticipated re issue of their 1995 (long unavailable on CD) classic, Phase 3: Thrones & Dominions.

Earth's most underrated/underappreciated album is also their best. Same format as Earth 2 - guitar driven songs with little or no percussion, thick feedback drones and no vocals. The songs, however, are more on the 'transcendental/eastern' side of things, as opposed to the 'doomy/metal' feel of Earth 2 - the drones and melodies on this album are beautiful and sad and, of course, highly psychedelic. One of the best ambient/drone album of all time.
