Description:
Groundbreaking choreography, super-slick editing, dazzling camerawork, and four of the world's most talented martial arts performers, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, Lam Ching-ying & Frankie Chan epitomize The Prodigal Son. This movie single-handedly invented the style and direction for the 'new-wave' classics that brought Asian Cinema to the attention of international audiences. Leung Chang (Yuen Biao) is a spoiled son who thinks he is the ultimate kung fu master around until he is defeated in a fight with an effeminate Wing Chun master (Lam Ching-Ying) who plays a girl in a travelling Peking Opera troupe. Leung begs to become the Wing Chun master's student when he realizes his father has been paying his opponents to lose. The master won't agree to teach Leung until another spoiled son appears, a Manchu noble seeking to test his fighting skills. The Prodigal Son is one of Yuen Biao's earliest films. It helped Yuen, one of the most talented acrobats of his generation; attain stardom nearly equal to that of Jackie Chan and director Sammo Hung.
