Description:
Rob Draper has just finished his first full length album 'The Rest Are Details', which features 10 brand new original songs. It was produced and engineered by Ross Ryan (One Person Queue and I Am Pegasus) in his Glen Iris studio. As a young artist, Rob has already earned the respect of colleagues such as Mike Rudd, Bill Putt and Peter Robertson of Spectrum, who all play on the album.
As a guitarist and singer, Rob's songs are influenced by many of the things that have captivated other songwriters over the years including the mysteries of the fairer sex and the beneficial properties of other artists and influential company. He has the subtle touch with a story and loves to expound musically on the good and the bad in life, usually finding both beauty and humour in it. And he's a devil on the guitar, too.
His music has an earthy and organic flow that is tied directly to his lyrics, as you follow the twists and turns of his exceptional tales. Rob is also a huge movie buff; citing Cool Hand Luke as a favourite - which has perhaps influenced his musical vignettes that sound like a good film looks. The Rest Are Details includes everything from subtle waltzes to full on rock songs and compelling narratives of the simple yet intriguing stories of life. Having studied film structure and text, he uses these techniques in trying to hold and captivate his audience.
The Rest Are Details features 10 new tracks including the lusty and devilish Tiny Little Buttons and the thundering When The Fog Roles In. Check out the harmonica driven bittersweet It's Not Like That and the sly and subtle Baby Blue, a nearly perfect example of a love song, which was influenced by Nick Cave's lecture on The Secret Life of The Love Song.
