Produced by Brian Ahern, it was Harris' second bluegrass-flavoured album featuring Ricky Skaggs singing backup and playing lead and rhythm everything, along with superpicker Albert Lee and the rest of The Hot Band. The mostly acoustic ROSES IN THE SNOW presaged Emmylou's move in that direction during the '90s with her post-Hot Band outfit The Nash Ramblers, and is often cited by reviewers as one of the best albums of her career. It's authentic Americana beauty!
ROSES IN THE SNOW (Expanded & Remastered) includes the original 1980 album's 10 tracks plus 2 unreleased tracks.

Highlights include the title track; the traditionals "Wayfaring Stranger" and "Green Pastures"; versions of Ralph Stanley's "Darkest Hour Is Just Before Dawn," The Louvin Brothers' "You're Learning," and The Carter Family's "Gold Watch And Chain"; and much more.

Also features Emmylou's stunning version of Paul Simon's "The Boxer," and 2 bonus tracks: a cover of Hank Williams' "You're Gonna Change," and "Root Like A Rose."
