Directed by Susan Rostock ("The Long Way Home") and produced by Michael Cohl (Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark), the documentary Sing Your Song depicts Belafonte as a tireless activist in the civil rights movement, who worked alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and later participated in the struggle against African apartheid. The book, My Song, co-written with Michael Shnayerson, tells Belafonte"s story from his poverty-ridden childhood to his meteoric rise to fame and his lifelong involvement at the heart of the civil rights movement and countless other social causes.
