When her distinctive, frayed-at-the-edges, husky voice propelled the Grammy-winning 'Bette Davis Eyes' to the top of the US charts in 1981, KIM CARNES had already been performing and recording for a decade. This Raven '2-for-1' CD comprises the well-regarded albums that directly preceded that major chart breakthrough. Her fourth St. Vincent's Court (1979) featured blues-tinged rock and soul ballads, including the single 'It Hurts So Bad'. Boasting a tougher sound 1980's Romance Dance lifted her national exposure with the US #10 hit, a cover of Smokey Robinson's 'More Love', and the US #44 follow-up, a cover of the Box Tops' 'Cry like a Baby'. Her third hit for the year, the US Top Five duet with Kenny Rogers 'Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer', appears as a bonus track.
