Description:
BILL CALLAHAN aka (SMOG) has been a mainstay of the American underground since the mid '80s. His work is characterised by sparse, often discordant instrumentation and his self-absorbed and intimately revealing lyrics. 'Supper' is his tenth record and has been touted as the best (Smog) release since the breakthrough 'Knock Knock'. The mood is more consistently downtempo than on previous releases, with beautiful colouring added through the use of soft steel guitars, gorgeous female harmony vocals, and cello. Beautiful fluttering melodies, and warm sentimental odes are delivered like a country-tinged NICK CAVE but with the theatrical melancholy replaced with a knack for genuine kitchen sink melodrama.
