Description:
After a premonition two years ago, singer/songwriter Nick Lovell decided it was time to get a band together. Nick spent his school years playing in bands around the Geelong area, before moving to Melbourne. He spent some years playing with a bands in the big smoke, before turning his hand to playing solo, honing his powerful voice and songwriting talent.
Soon after his premonition, he called on old high school band mate, Danniel "Scrappy" Smith, whose bass playing had always added another dimension to Nicks' songs. Scrappy has been blessed with an ability to do and say what most people only dream of. He grew up in the Geelong suburb of Highton.
Nick tried others for the band without luck until someone right underneath his nose occurred to him. He invited his sister Jess to play some gigs with him on the piano. Jess hadn't touched the piano since high school, but after some magical first gigs, she knew it was time to take it up again. Jess invites the audience into her world when she plays and feels each note so strongly you can't help but feel it too.
Mid-way through the recording of "Sweet is the Night", Nunzio Junta arrived on the scene, offering to help out for a few gigs on drums, and has been their drummer since. With heart bigger than Pharlap, and forearms the size of tree trunks, Nunz, along with Scrappy his rhythm section ally, creates an abundant energy.
The "nick lovell band" balance the darkness and the light, the sad with the hopeful, strength and tenderness, and true talent with emotional honesty.
