Description:
Holly is also in a new band SEEKER LOVER KEEPER with kindred spirits SARAH BLASKO and SALLY SELTMANN. Nearly three years have passed since Holly Throsby released 'A Loud Call' (Woomecd007). The album included performances from a handful of very special guests including BONNIE `PRINCE' BILLY (singing duet on `Would You') and members of LAMBCHOP and THE SILVER JEWS (Matt Swanson on bass, Tony Crow on synth and William Tyler on electric guitar). Strings and horns were recorded in Kangaroo Valley by Tony Dupe. The album was very warmly received across the UK and rest of Europe with significant reviews in: - SUNDAY TIMES - `ALBUM OF THE WEEK' WITH 4/5 REVIEW: "THROSBY HAS STARTED TO SING NOT QUITE AS QUIETLY AS BEFORE, AND THIS INCREMENTAL SHIFT HAS TAKEN HER MUSIC TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL, A LEVEL AT WHICH SHE CAN DUET WITH HIS ALT-COUNTRY EMINENCE BONNIE `PRINCE' BILLY, ON `WOULD YOU' - AND NOT BE OUTCLASSED." - MOJO 4/5 REVIEW WITH QUARTER PAGE PHOTO: "IN TRUTH, IT'S A FRAGILE, QUIET JOY OF A RECORD, FILLED WITH MELODIC PART-WHISPERED PHRASES AND PRODUCER MARK NEVINS HAS ACHIEVED MIRACLES BY FILLING ALL THE GAPS YET LEAVING THE LISTENER WITH THE ILLUSION THAT THERE'S SPACE BETWEEN EVERY LINE. MEMORABLE MOMENTS ABOUND - THE OPENING `WARM JETS' IS A GORGEOUS HEART-BURNER , WHILE `THE TIME IT TAKES' OOZES APPEAL." *Now Holly has returned to her roots with long-time friend and producer Tony Dupé, recording a brand new collection of songs ("Team") in a 19th century Methodist church in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. *Mixed by Burke Reid (Jack Ladder, The Drones, The Mess Hall) at Sydney's Big Jesus Burger studios, "Team" is a warm departure that echoes contentment as the singer-songwriter begins her next chapter. *OTHER FAVOURABLE REVIEWS: *SECOND LEAD REVIEW WITH 4 STARS IN THE DAILY MIRROR : "THIS ALLURING ALBUM - RECORDED IN NASHVILLE WITH LAMBCHOP, THE SILVER JEWS AND A GUESTING BONNIE PRINCE BILLY - KNOWS DECIBELS AREN'T NEEDED TO CAPTURE EMOTIONAL WONDERS. HEAR, HEAR!" *PREVIOUS REVIEWS FOR `ON NIGHT' (WOOMECD003) AND `UNDER THE TOWN' (WOOMECD006): - "Throsby's yielding , half-spoken vocals invest poetic distillations with an elusive profundity" **** 4 stars - MOJO - "Superior pastoral noodling, delicate acoustic twinkles and breathy fireside musings. Each tune is as absorbing as a watercolour miniature."**** 4 stars - UNCUT - "A beautiful record" - 9/10 - ALTERNATIVE ULSTER Details:
