He released the first instalment of Tha Carter series in 2004, followed by Tha Carter II in 2006, which further solidified Lil Wayne's status as one of the best MCs in the hip hop game. But it was with the release in 2008 of Tha Carter III that Lil Wayne became a genuine worldwide superstar, paving the way for his advisory role to grow as CEO of Young Money Records.
