Ever since the Guillemots were named as one of the top new acts of 2006 by a BBC poll, anticipation has been high for this debut album. A self-confessed mass of contradictions, revelling in diversity whilst dancing in a curiously sensual way with all things "pop", Guillemots make modern lullabies for uneasy times. The band itself comprises an Englishman, a Scotsman, a Brazilian and a Canadian, and the album Through The Windowpane is being variously described as "Pet Sounds for the Coldplay generation" and as "simply astonishing". The debut album Through the Windowpane debuted at #17 on the UK albums chart this July, and the album is one of 12 nominated for a prestigious Mercury Music Prize, to be announced this September.
