(PEARL JAM, LATIN PLAYBOYS, LISA GERMANO, SOUL COUGHING),
this album takes the Low aesthetic to a whole new level of sonic
splendour.
The harmonies of husband and wife ALAN SPARHAWK and MIMI
PARKER set a preciously intimate tone, and provide the fragile lead over the
sparse sounds of guitar, bass and simple drum set.
This time, the sounds of brass, bells, banjo, glockenspiel and accordion
augment the sound and provide sweet flesh to firm bones. Includes guest
vocals by GERRY BECKLEY of '70s soft rock giants AMERICA.
Its songs are closer to celestial hymns than mere alternative rock.
This record grazes you with a brick and then knocks you over with a feather.
