Description:
Remastered and recut, this nine track mini album will be available on CD for the first time, seven years after itıs original, semi-mythical pressing on Boards of Canadaıs own label Music70. Their esoteric release, limited to an exclusive hundred copies on vinyl, made it a most sought after contemporary item, copies being known to change hands for 800 pounds on-line. Marcus Eoin and Mike Sandison, the elusive duo that operate as Boards of Canada from their remote studio (Turquoise Hexagon Sun) in Scotland, have sanctioned a re-release to reach their exasperated audience, on condition it was lo-key, in line with their belief "weıd rather that people find our music by themselves, so that itıs something that feels like it belongs to them". A subtle precursor to the ground-breaking Music Has the Right to Childrenı, Twoismı gently maps BOCıs twilight territory, exploring the themes that would later become unquestionably their own: bittersweet evocations of childhood, haunted pastoral spaces, contriving a detached perspective, or drift, through their grainy organic electronics. Demonstrating their range of styles, an evolution can be seen, from the formalist tumble of Basefreeı, the wistful Melissa Juiceı and the skewed pop of Iced Coolyı, through to Seeya Laterıs analogue groove and the brooding Smokes Quantityı (both of which appeared on subsequent releases.) Twoism has a simple muted elegance, like watching the past ebb away in the rear view mirror.
