About Play4Me

Play4Me is written by Ryan "Rix" Gallagher, a Melbourne-based gaming journalist who's been covering the Australian games industry since 2016. Before going independent, Rix spent five years on staff at two of Australia's biggest gaming outlets, reviewing everything from indie puzzlers to AAA blockbusters and covering the local esports circuit from grassroots LANs to international qualifiers.

He grew up in Brisbane's competitive FPS and MOBA scenes, cut his teeth casting local Counter-Strike tournaments, and eventually moved into longform reporting on the business side of games -- studio closures, publisher deals, government grants, and the complicated economics that keep Australian game development alive (or don't).

Play4Me covers the full spectrum of interactive entertainment in Australia: esports results and analysis, game reviews with an Aussie perspective, deep dives into the local development scene, hardware and tech coverage, and the growing role of AI in how games are made and played. If it involves a screen and a scoreboard, it's probably on Rix's radar.

The writing here is honest, opinionated, and occasionally funny. Rix doesn't do press releases dressed up as articles. Expect hot takes backed by actual reporting, reviews from someone who finishes the game before writing about it, and industry analysis that doesn't assume you have an MBA.

Whether you're a competitive player, a casual gamer, or just someone who wants to know what's happening in the Australian games space -- you're in the right place.
